Hot Momma’s Kitchen: Bicol’s Finest Dishes

Authentic Bicolandia Food

Our lives took a dramatic turn, in mid-March of 2020. With that, we craved any form of comfort we could get our hands on. Many of us turned to our kitchens and cooked ourselves as a security blanket throughout the  quarantine. Not unlike Cristina Navela-Bangalan, a full-time Financial Advisor, who found herself cooking Bicolandia specials in her kitchen in Taytay, Rizal. Also like most of us, she shared her home-cooked meals on social media. The cravings stimulated in her neighbors led to small orders. And after encouraging some feedback and her neighbors and manager, she then started taking the orders seriously.

Bicol Express, Laing at iba pa! Deliciously spicy!

Her Love for Food and Kids

Hot Momma’s Kitchen simmered to an online specialty food delivery service by June. Their menu offerings include Bicol’s finest, Sinantolan, Bicol express, and Laing as an homage to her mother from Buhi, Camarines Sur. And so the business was christened Hot Momma, for the signature spice, and three Ms for the three Marias in her life.

She Cooks… Drive Delivers

As orders came in, the delivery service apps couldn’t keep up with her demands with only limited service areas. Until a potential client, all the way from (town) Laguna suggested a new logistics provider, DRIVE Logistics. Curious, she reached out and tested a few deliveries. As it turns out, DRIVE Logistics has the best rates, with wider coverage areas. “Ang affordable ng rates ng Drive, hindi talo ang customers ko sa shipping,” Cristina said. “Very responsive [ang Drive] kahit riders, mababait at mabilis mag-deliver, kaya happy ako,” she added. Then, a partnership was forged.

Drive Logistics powers Food Entrepreneurs

DRIVE Logistics, is another service vertical by DRIVE Manila. The peer-to-peer self-drive car rental pivoted to grocery and logistics providers within Mega Manila in the new normal. The shipping fee starts at ₱50 only plus ₱6 per extra kilometer for motorcycles. This, by far, is the BEST rate across all service delivery apps in the country. Sedan, AUV, and van deliveries are also available, adequate for bulkier items. And the promising part, multi-drop deliveries are available!
